PETALING JAYA – Three people from news portal The Malaysian Insight including its CEO and editor Jahabar Sadiq have given their statements to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over an opinion piece it published.
Jahabar said the two-hour meeting on Tuesday went well and that the usual questions were asked.
“They asked questions about the article and the running of The Malaysian Insight,” he said when contacted.
On Tuesday, MCMC released a statement that five people from the news portal were called up over an article about the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Bank Negara Malaysia’s foreign exchange losses in the 1990s.
MCMC said it was conducting the investigation after “receiving many complaints” from the public.
“MCMC urges everyone not to speculate and to give us space for a fair and just investigation,” it said in a statement.
