PETALING JAYA – Former prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he was ready to accept the fate if PAS refused to cooperate with the Opposition coalition in facing Barisan Nasional (BN).
The Opposition must accept the reality that there it will be a three-cornered fight or more at the 14th General Election (GE14).
He said, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) is still discussing with PAS if the cooperation will happen.
“PPBM is still discussing with PAS. We have yet to reach a decision.
“For PPBM, we will join the cooperation with Pakatan Harapan before we reach a decision with PAS.
“We hope PAS will be Pakatan Harapan or at least with PPBM in order for us to determine a face-off … but if we fail, we will accept the fate that we will face a three or four-cornered fight,” said Dr Mahathir at the press conference of the Roundtable conference ‘Selamatkan Malaysia’ here today.
He also said that PPBM will remain even if the party fails to topple Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“There are ups and downs for any political parties – sometimes you lose, sometimes you win.
“We have no intention to shut PPBM if we lose. We will struggle to save the country,” he said.
