KUALA LUMPUR – Police fired at and injured a man who tried to escape a roadblock at Taman Tun Dr Ismail here early Monday morning.
In the 2.15am incident along Jalan Pinggir Zaaba, the 33-year-old suspect had made a u-turn with his car just before the roadblock.
Petaling Jaya police district chief Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said that a patrol car from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters gave chase until Kampung Kayu Ara before the suspect drove onto Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP).
“The suspect drove against traffic on the LDP towards Puchong. His car then collided with the road shoulder and stopped. The suspect tried to run away by climbing the road divider to get onto Jalan SS2/75,” he said in a statement.
He said checks revealed that the suspect had a criminal record involving house break-ins and vehicle thefts.
The car used by the suspect was also reported to have been stolen from Damansara.
The suspect was sent to University Malaya Hospital for treatment.
