KUALA LUMPUR: Tropicana Corp Bhd has appointed Dion Tan Yong Chien as group managing director effective Monday.
In filings with Bursa Malaysia, the property developer said Tan, 27, is the son of Tan Sri Danny Tan Chee Sing, the founder and major shareholder of Tropicana.
His eldest brother, Datuk Dickson Tan Yong Loong, is the company’s deputy group chief executive officer (CEO) while another brother, Dillon Tan Yong Chin, is an executive director.
Dion was with Accenture, a global management and technology consulting firm, as a strategy consultant with experience in telecommunications, media and property sectors.
Tropicana also announced that current director and group CEO Datuk Yau Kok Seng, 58, will retire early effective Nov 30 due to health reasons.
Prior to joining Tropicana (then Dijaya Corp) in September 2013 as director and CEO, Yau had been managing director of Sunway Holdings Bhd (2001 to 2011) and group managing director of Hong Leong Industries Bhd (2011 to 2012).
Another new appointment to the Tropicana board is Datuk Lim Thean Shiang, 46, who was named non-executive director. The former Port Klang Authority general manager is one of the advisors to the investment committee of Felda Global Venture Holdings group.
