KUALA TERENGGANU – A 34-year-old man has died after he was brutally stabbed six times – allegedly by his would-be brother-in-law – at the parking lot of the Religious Department here on Sunday.
Police said the victim and his family had travelled from Kelantan to check on the marital status of the 29-year-old suspect, Mohd Hafiz Mohamad from Kampung Baloh Manir here, who wanted to marry the deceased’s sister.
Terengganu Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Abd Aziz Wan Hamzah said after the victim learnt that Mohd Hafiz was already married, they both went out to the parking lot.
“A heated argument broke out and we believe the suspect took out a knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim.
“We found six stab wounds on the neck and the chest of the victim. The suspect fled with a friend in a Honda Civic car,” he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
