PETALING JAYA – Gerakan today challenged DAP to announce its potential candidates for the 14th general election (GE14) much earlier.
Its president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said this was important so that the people could evaluate the seriousness and capabilities of the candidates in serving the people.
“We have made our announcements, we have worked hard so people can see. Let us know your candidates, we want to know who your candidates are, and do not tell us at the very last minute,” he said when opening the Selangor Gerakan delegates conference here today.
Mah, who is also Teluk Intan member of parliament, said Gerakan was now more confident as they have made early preparations to ensure that the party remains relevant.
In facing GE14, Gerakan had in stages, announced the list of potential candidates who would be contesting, for Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak to make the final decision.
Mah said he was confident that BN would deny the opposition coalition a third term victory in Selangor as Gerakan had mobilised its machinery to help BN component parties capture the state in the next general election.
