PETALING JAYA: The Pakatan Harapan leadership line-up is like a carriage with many drivers, says MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
“You don’t really know who is in power. Does the word of a chairman supersede that of a president, or is it the de facto leader?
“So when the time comes for you to sign a pact among coalition partners, whose signature holds authority?” he told reporters after attending a Chinese language pedagogy seminar held at Wisma MCA on Saturday.
On Thursday night, Pakatan Harapan had announced Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the coalition’s de facto leader, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as chairman and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as president.
Dr Wee added that the line-up appeared as if Pakatan Harapan intended to create many top posts just to accommodate each other.
“They are just consoling each other. Also, Dr Mahathir said Anwar will be the eighth Prime Minister if Pakatan comes to power.
“So who is to be the seventh? No one knows,” he said.
Dr Wee also slammed DAP for criticising MCA of being subservient to Umno in the past, and yet remained silent now that the tables were turned against them.
“They have the highest number of MPs in Pakatan and claims to share equal status among its partners and yet, they couldn’t get any of the top three posts in their coalition.
“They have criticised MCA for failing to secure top posts in the past. Right now, shouldn’t I be questioning them in return for the same reason?” he added.
