Umno was more concerned with the self-styled Islamic State rather than PKR leaders such as the party’s president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, deputy Mohamad Azmin Ali, or vice-president Rafizi Ramli.
According to the Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein, he said Umno’s main agenda was to ensure that Malaysia was safe from terrorists.
“Rafizi is not our agenda. Wan Azizah and Azmin are not our foes. The Daesh (Islamic State) is a bigger problem.
“They (IS) are the ones who slaughter and burn people. (But) we (Malaysia) is safe so Daesh hasn’t set foot here yet.
“As long as I hold this post (Umno vice president and defence minister) I will fight Daesh and we do it for all (Malaysians) not just the Malays,” Hishammuddin said.
He was speaking at the launch of the Cheras Umno annual division meeting in Kuala Lumpur today.
At a press conference later, Hishammuddin said the opposition is not prepared to deal with terrorist as well as the complexities of Malaysian society.
“Unfortunately, they don’t have the experience, they don’t have the direction and vision to lead a complex society in terms of racial and religious diversity such as in Malaysia.
“If the people want to choose, choose the one with a good track record. I’m not saying Umno-BN is perfect, but we have a track record,” he said.
