GEORGE TOWN – Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pic) says he will not comment for now on the controversial photos allegedly depicting Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari in close proximity with a woman.
“I will issue a statement if needed and will not make a comment on it for now,” said Lim during a press conference at the Penang Digital Library on Thursday.
Earlier, Penang DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow said Zairil had appeared before Lim, who is DAP secretary-general, on Tuesday afternoon over the issue.
“Since this is an attack on his privacy, Zairil has requested to sort out the issue himself for the time being,” Chow said in a statement.
On Tuesday, four pictures of a couple, resembling Zairil and a woman youth leader, were widely circulated on social media.
The two were seen seated at a table in a restaurant with at least two other people.
However, Zairil denied that it was him in the photos, and described it as an attempt to “malign me with personal attacks”.
The woman is said to resemble DAP Youth committee member Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Dyana Sofya said it was the third personal attack on her in two months.
She said no matter who was in the photos or videos in which she was allegedly featured, these were privacy intrusions into that person’s life.
On Thursday, a fifth photo resembling the two emerged.
