DOCTORS at Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s (HKL) Coronary Care Unit have given the green light for PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to be discharged, said PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil.
“Anwar is now back at the Rehabilitation Hospital in Cheras so that doctors can monitor his progress and continue physiotherapy for his right shoulder,” said Fahmi.
The 70-year-old former deputy prime minister was admitted to HKL today after reacting negatively to a steroid injection to treat prolonged pain following a shoulder surgery.
The steroids caused his heart rate to drop to a worrying level before he was transferred to HKL.
Anwar, who began his five-year prison term in February 2015 after the federal court upheld his conviction and sentence for sodomy, is due to be released on June 8.
