JOHOR BARU – Former Cabinet minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim (pic) has not ruled out the possibility of contesting in the next general election.
He said that he will consider contesting in GE14 if an Opposition party other than PAS offered him an opportunity to join.
“I might contest either in the Kota Baru or Johor Baru parliamentary seat,” he said during a press conference here on Tuesday.
On whether he had already made up his mind which party he would join, Zaid said an announcement would be made when the time is right.
“It (GE14) is going to be an election which Malaysians have not seen before and voters must use their rights and wisdom when casting the vote,” he said.
Zaid contested and won the Kota Baru parliamentary seat under Barisan Nasional in the 2004 general election.
He was appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in 2008 but quit the Government in 2009 to join PKR.
During the Hulu Selangor by-election in April 2010, Zaid was put forward as the PKR candidate, but was defeated by Barisan’s Datuk P. Kamalanathan.
He left PKR in 2011 to form Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita).
