KUALA LUMPUR: The Johor ruler’s daughter, Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim Ismail, has been appointed chairman of Berjaya Assets Bhd (BAssets) effective today (Wednesday).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the Berjaya Times Square owner said Tunku Tun Aminah, 31, who became chairman of REDTone International Bhd seven months ago, has considerable experience in heading private organisations across a broad range of industries.
She serves as a director on the board of several private companies, including Berjaya Waterfront Sdn Bhd, REDtone Network Sdn Bhd, Jauhari Maksima Sdn Bhd and Ibzi Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Tunku Tun Aminah is also the current president of the Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club (also known as JDT), a football club based in Johor Baru.
On Monday, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar surfaced as the second biggest individual shareholder in BAssets. This followed his acquisition of 80 million shares in BAssets, which increased his stake to 10.09% or 120 million shares.
Sultan Ibrahim is also a substantial shareholder of REDTone International with 17.91% equity interest.
