JOHOR BARU: The Permaisuri of Johor has penned a poem in tribute to the late Kedah Sultan Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.
Tuanku Abdul Halim passed away at 2.30pm on Monday at Istana Anak Bukit.
Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah posted the poem on her Facebook page at around 10pm on Monday.
The post has since received more than 1,800 likes and 115 shares.
“A heaviness lies in my heart,
A King has left this mortal world.
From his family, his people, he is apart.
Rest in peace, dear King,
You have given your all,
We shall honour your name,
We shall never let it fall.”
The poem was also shared by Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar on his official Facebook page.
Raja Zarith Sofiah’s son Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Ibni Sultan Ibrahim also paid tribute to the late Sultan on Instagram by posting a black-and-white photo of Tuanku Abdul Halim.
He offered his condolences to the Kedah royal family and said Malaysia had truly lost a great Sultan.
“You have been such a great role model to me showing me that no matter how unwell or tired you feel on that day, duty comes first.
“My heart goes out to all rakyat Kedah,” he added.
Tuanku Abdul Halim made history when he became Agong for the second time in 2012 after being installed for the first time in 1970.
Tuanku Abdul Halim ended his term as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong last December and was replaced by Kelantan Ruler Sultan Muhammad V.
