The on again, off again High-Speed Rail project linking Kuala Lumpur with Singapore has been a source of anxiety for many travellers hoping to be able to make the trip in the near future.
In May, the just-elected government of Mahathir Mohamad cancelled the project on the grounds of it being overpriced, before subsequently announcing it was merely stalled. The cost of the project in its current form was estimated at RM110 billion (S$37 billion).
Now, the two sides are preparing to reopen negotiations, a step that is seen as crucial to Singapore who says it has already spent hundreds of millions of dollars in preparation.
How do you feel about the project?
